I met A.W.Davidson in a Facebook group. He had shared that he recently completed self-publishing an audiobook sci-fi trilogy. I was so impressed and being the narrator of a sci-fi podcast, I reached out and asked him if he was planning to create an audiobook. He had already been auditioning narrators for the role - which was incredibly complex. Tons of accents, a very broad age range (a 7 year old girl to an 80 year old woman), characters whose voices age, men of all ethnicities and ages and of course, aliens. There are over 60+ individual characters in this book and it was a joy to collaborate and cast each one. If you are ever interested in that process, let me know!
After auditioning for each character's voice and the mood of the book, we went back and really nailed down the relationships. Then we combed over pronunciations (over 3 pages of words sounded out with phonetic spelling). This is a book grounded in history with a fictional twist - so many of the people, places and things really do exist.
This project also resonated with me as an Electrical Engineer and S.T.E.A.M. buff, a mother, a scientist, a lover of Egyptology, a science fiction fanatic and a wife. I was amazed how A.W. was able to capture so many aspects of myself within his characters. This was the PERFECT collaboration.
