This blog has been 20 years in the making. I’ve been storing up stories, perspectives, lessons and gratitude that have needed a space to breathe and live for a LONNNNNNNGGGGG time! I hope you get a ton of inspiration out of the things I’m going to share with you.
Caution: I like to deliver maximum motivation with minimum word count. I like it funny. I like it interesting. I like it inspirational. If you like that too, then you will love to come along on this journey with me.
Here’s my story:
I’m the oldest three daughters, raised in a Puerto Rican family in Pittsburgh, PA. This is fundamentally who I am. A “steel town” girl raised on arroz con habichulas and tostones, born in the ’70’s, forged in the ’80’s, influenced by the ’90’s, and matured in the new millennium. All of my dance moves are ’80’s style. My choice of lipsticks and leggings will always be ’90’s style. And my music choice is whatever makes my body ~move~.
As a young girl, I didn’t think much of what life would look like. We were middle class. So, I never had designer-anything. But, I had a home, great budget vacations, and strong family support. I sort of took the joy of childhood for granted. Maybe you did too? The strange thing is that I never thought of getting married, having a princess wedding, or having any children. My big dream was to graduate college, have my own independent life and travel all over the world. Which is what I did.
In my 30’s, after working my entire life in corporate, the love and baby bugs bit me simultaneously. I was never truly a workaholic, since I loved vacations too much. But, I never wanted companionship and a child so badly until I began to love myself, do personal development work, and allow myself to become authentic and vulnerable.
Until that point, I hid behind degrees, awards, accolades, and bad relationships. One after the other - men who were violent, selfish and didn’t appreciate me. It is not until I broke free from that #mindset and chose MY HAPPINESS FIRST, that I was able to serve everyone else in my life and encourage them to pursue happiness. I remember my younger sister giving me this sage advice, even as I would break-up and get back together weekly with that terribly toxic individual… She said “When you are done, you will be done. Until then, you will not.” That took a lot of pressure off. Because the day I was done, I was truly done. And I have never looked back. Choosing myself on that day opened the doors to the dream life I began to create massive momentum from that moment forward.
If there’s anything I hope this blog inspires you to do is to listen to that little voice in your heart. If there is ever a doubt or a question in your sanity, value, lovableness, or self-worth when you are in a job, relationship, organization or anything - run away fast! If you don’t, it just means you need to learn something important about yourself so that you can experience a more enlightened life moving forward. That’s ok too. There are no mistakes, just lessons. Nothing is wasted.
💫 You are here for a short time, earthly speaking. You are here for infinity, universally speaking. Your position in space and time, your looks, your personality, your lineage, your race, creed, religion, humanity, experience, thoughts, values, loved ones... There was never, is not, and will never be anyone like you. Your powerful, beautiful, abundant spirit is indestructible. Let that sink in. You have dreams? Make them happen. 💫 🙏🏼❤️
